Ski Touring in the Trail of Smugglers
If you stand on the edge of the piste and are drawn to the distant slopes, there's a couple of ways of getting there. One is by helicopter of course, but for a real adventure you need to put on skins and head out there under your own steam. James Henderson of A Life of Adventure set off across the border Swiss French border between Morzine and the Val d'Illiez, in order to tell the ages-old story of smuggling between the two countries. You can read his article, Alpine Ski Touring, on the Financial Times How to Spend it website.
